Afghanistan Shelter Cluster

A shelter is beyond four walls and a roof, we witnessed it in southeast Afghanistan. more than 90% of the shelters remain unoccupied for almost a year now due to lack of compound wall that costs 2 times the cost of a shelter at an average! an old man defined the situation saying ” we don’t live in shops as the house has a boundary wall”. In Afghanistan culture, especially in Southeast region, privacy for women is the first priority for the households so they define compound wall as their shelter. The well-being of women and children is at risk since they are living in tents and indoors for almost 15 months now re suffering due to no privacy!!!
